Eternal Love

Life was so blissful, I knew not any sorrow; reveling in beatitude, day and night.
Welcome arms wherever I go, shoulders to lean on whenever I wish.
Fun and frolic all day long, with friends and loved ones all along;
There was not a shadow of doubt, nor a twinge of misery or pain.

My path was long, straight and clear - without any twist or turn.
Never was there a need to panic or worry, just many a joyous moments to make merry.
For, I had not a foe to rebuke; nor a shifty friend to anguish over;
Forever was I, basking in the glow of trust, faith, worship, and love.

Oh! Now, I see a lot of things, which I failed to observe in my state of blessed naiveté.
I can feel a shadow descend on me, sense the evil, deceit and falsity around.
My heart is replete with disgust and despair, at the betrayal and pretense of those, once near and dear.
Engulfed in despair and anguish, I lay here forlorn in distress.

Nothing is eternal in this world; family, friends, kith and kin, and blood relations so very dear.
Wealth, fame, power, success and glory, everything is transient in life.
Oh God! Only your love is boundless and infinite, and so overpowering;
That I surrender to thee, and submerge myself in immortal divine euphoria!
